Order processing is part of the services offered by a call center. It is an activity that can be carried out both inside a contact center and at home because it requires only a telephone. Unlike prospecting, which involves sending calls, calls are made on the basis of calls received. In short, it is a very simple activity since it is enough to wait for the calls of the customers. This is why it is often more interesting to practice it from home by respecting the pre-defined schedules of the day during which customers call to place their orders. The important thing is to make sure you do not leave your home during the hours of reception of calls and to remain concentrated in order to avoid the errors during the taking of command.
The teleworker responsible for taking orders from customers is provided with a catalog listing all the products offered by the contractors. During the call, ensure that the product stated by the customer (reference number) corresponds to the exact name of the product designated in the catalog. Then you should note on the cards provided by the subcontractor company. Even if this work seems easy, even mechanical, it is necessary to remain well concentrated in order to avoid any error.
It may happen that the requested product is unavailable, in this case, you play the role of a telemarketer and direct the customer to another similar product. For this, it is necessary to master perfectly the range of products proposed by the company.
In general, the constraints of this work lie mainly in working hours, sometimes inconvenient: at lunchtime, late in the evening or very early in the morning. This is because teleworkers are often hired to relay switchboard operators internally or to reinforce service during rush periods. The good thing is that it leaves free time during the day. As far as remuneration is concerned, taking orders at home is usually paid for on the call.
